Deposit, mileage and fuel

Deposit

At pick-up a deposit is paid by credit card in the driver's name. The amount depends on the car and is shown on its page. It is returned or released after the car is returned, minus any damage, fines, tolls or extra costs.

Mileage

Included kilometres and the cost of extra ones are shown on each car page and in the booking summary.

Fuel and return

The car is returned with the same fuel level as at pick-up, in the same condition and without personal belongings. There is a 59-minute grace period on the return time; beyond that, an extra day may be charged.

Travelling abroad

Leaving Italy requires prior written authorisation.

Protection

Insurance and cancellation

Insurance

All cars have third-party liability insurance (RCA). In the event of a claim the customer is liable for the excess stated in the contract. Optional cover is available (excess reduction, theft and fire, weather events, legal protection).

Cancellation

Free up to 48 hours before pick-up with a full refund; between 48 and 24 hours 50% is retained; within 24 hours or in case of no-show the full amount is retained. Refunds go back to the same payment method within 14 business days.

FAQ

Questions about requirements

How old do I need to be to rent?

You must be at least 18 and have held the right category of licence for at least 12 months. Some of the more powerful models may require a higher minimum age or more years of driving: you will find them on each car page.

I am a new driver: can I rent a luxury car?

It depends on when you obtained your licence and on the car. Under the reformed Italian Highway Code, for the first three years after obtaining a category B licence (issued after 14 December 2024) you cannot drive cars with more than 105 kW of power or a power-to-weight ratio above 75 kW/t, unless accompanied by a driver aged 65 or under who has held a B licence for at least 10 years. Many sports and luxury cars exceed these limits; in the LUX.PL fleet the Citroën C3, smart forfour and fortwo and Renault Twingo are allowed, while for the 500X, C3 Aircross and Captur it depends on the engine. Each car page shows power and kW/t; you can check by number plate on the Portale dell'Automobilista or ask us before booking.

Which documents do I need at pick-up?

A valid driving licence, a valid ID document and a credit card in the driver's name for the deposit. At pick-up you sign the rental contract and the handover report, after checking the condition of the car together.

Can I leave the deposit with a debit or prepaid card?

As a rule the deposit requires a credit card in the driver's name. Other solutions must be agreed with us before pick-up: message us and we will tell you what is possible for the car you have chosen.
