Booking and payment
How do I book a car with LUX.PL?
Choose your pick-up and return date and time: the site immediately shows the available cars with the total price. Open the car page, check the conditions and continue to payment. As soon as the payment goes through you receive the confirmation by email, with a file to add the rental to your calendar.
Is the price shown the final price?
Yes. Rates are in euros and include VAT unless stated otherwise. The total covers the rental days, any length-of-rental discounts and the extras you choose. The security deposit is not a cost: it is paid at pick-up and returned after the car is brought back.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Online you pay on Stripe by credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal, depending on the methods active at the time of payment. Card details never pass through our website. For bookings made in person or by phone we can send you a secure payment link.
Can I cancel or change my booking?
Yes. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pick-up; between 48 and 24 hours 50% is retained; within 24 hours or in case of no-show the full amount is retained. Changes to dates, times or car must be requested at least 24 hours in advance and depend on availability. You can request them from the "Manage your booking" link in the confirmation email.
Is the car held while I pay?
Yes: when you go to payment the car is reserved for you for 30 minutes, so nobody else can book it for the same dates. If payment is not completed within that time, the car becomes available again.
Requirements and documents
How old do I need to be to rent?
You must be at least 18 and have held the right category of licence for at least 12 months. Some of the more powerful models may require a higher minimum age or more years of driving: you will find them on each car page.
I am a new driver: can I rent a luxury car?
It depends on when you obtained your licence and on the car. Under the reformed Italian Highway Code, for the first three years after obtaining a category B licence (issued after 14 December 2024) you cannot drive cars with more than 105 kW of power or a power-to-weight ratio above 75 kW/t, unless accompanied by a driver aged 65 or under who has held a B licence for at least 10 years. Many sports and luxury cars exceed these limits; in the LUX.PL fleet the Citroën C3, smart forfour and fortwo and Renault Twingo are allowed, while for the 500X, C3 Aircross and Captur it depends on the engine. Each car page shows power and kW/t; you can check by number plate on the Portale dell'Automobilista or ask us before booking.
Which documents do I need at pick-up?
A valid driving licence, a valid ID document and a credit card in the driver's name for the deposit. At pick-up you sign the rental contract and the handover report, after checking the condition of the car together.
Can I leave the deposit with a debit or prepaid card?
As a rule the deposit requires a credit card in the driver's name. Other solutions must be agreed with us before pick-up: message us and we will tell you what is possible for the car you have chosen.
Pick-up and return
Where do I collect the car?
At our office in Quarto (Naples), Via Campana 137/B, 80010 Quarto (NA), during the opening hours shown on the Contact page. Quarto lies between Pozzuoli, Marano and Giugliano, within easy reach of Naples and the Phlegraean Fields.
What happens if I return the car late?
There is a 59-minute grace period on the return time. Beyond that, an extra rental day may be charged. If you think you will be late, let us know: we can often find a solution.
Must the car be returned with a full tank?
The car must be returned with the same fuel level as at pick-up, unless agreed otherwise, free of personal belongings and in the same condition, normal wear excepted.
Can I take the car abroad?
Leaving Italy is only possible with prior written authorisation. Ask us when you book, telling us the countries and dates.
Insurance, deposit and damage
Is insurance included?
All cars are covered by third-party liability insurance (RCA). In the event of a claim the customer is liable for the excess stated in the contract. Optional extra cover is available, such as excess reduction, theft and fire and weather events: ask us for the conditions for the car you are interested in.
How does the security deposit work?
The deposit is paid at pick-up and varies by car (you will find it on the car page). It covers any damage, fines, tolls or extra costs and is returned or released after the car is brought back, minus any charges.
Who pays fines received during the rental?
Fines for traffic offences committed during the rental are the customer's responsibility, as set out in the Terms and conditions.
Cars and events
Do you rent cars with a driver?
No: LUX.PL only offers self-drive rental. You drive, with the freedom and privacy only a car of your own can give.
Can I rent a car for a wedding or a photo shoot?
Yes, our cars are also chosen for weddings, events, photo shoots and special trips. For popular dates we recommend booking early; for special requirements message us first.
Is the car I get the one in the photo?
The photos show models actually in the fleet. Colour, equipment and accessories may differ slightly from the car handed over: in case of a substantial difference you can refuse the handover.
